Purpose and Assumptions

The purpose of the Tevatron BPM upgrade WBS is to provide the project management team a tool to coordinate and present project related information in an accessible and useful manner to the individuals involved in the project. Links provided in these pages may be restricted to certain individuals, depending on the sensitivity of the subject. The guidance for the project is documented in the detailed documentation described in the RUNII Tevatron Upgrade Plan. Terms used in these pages are mostly consistent with standard project management terms used in the DOE project management guidance documents.

Assumptions made for project tasks and resource management are designed to be consistent with the over-all Tevatron Upgrade project. Initial estimates are based on the recent Recycler BPM upgrade. Although the recycler BPM project is similar to Tevatron BPM project in many ways, Tevatron BPM project is more complex due to technical requirements to measure both proton and pbar beams.

Work Breakdown Structure (WBS):

Tevatron BPM project uses Microsoft Project for management. A set of working project files are maintained for the use of L2 managers and project management office. Reports from the project files are posted in this web space. Currently, there are three different project files:

TBPMUpgrade.mpp : Main Tevatron BPM project file

Cableupgrade.mpp: Cable upgrade subproject file

TBPMCommissioning.mpp: Project file for detailed commissioning tasks

Project information (projectInfo): Financial information about the project is available here.

Status files (statusFiles): Tev BPM project files, in various formats, are available here for viewing

Change control (changeControl): once baselined, changes to the project file including change documentation shall be controlled by a change management process. Documents related to approval for change and document describing and justifying chances are available in this directory.
